A strong woman has an awareness of the obstacles in her way and the chauvinistic expectations people have for her, but she decides what she wants and works super hard to achieve it. ✿Eunice Newton Foote was the first scientist to make the connection between the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and climate change in 1856. She discovered the warming properties of carbon dioxide and the "greenhouse effect." She was able to submit her experiment and findings at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) BUT because she was a woman and not able to be a member of the organization, Professor Joseph Henry of the Smithsonian Institute, presented her findings.
