Best time to drink water

The most biased myth in the history of my existence has always been about water.
It's a certainty we need water to survive, however lots of people have come up with opinions and scientific reasons why and when we should drink water that seem to contradict each other.

l was told as a child to drink water while eating to help with easy passage of food,
I was also told as a young adult that I should drink water an hour before and after eating. This pointers, among others, has placed a lot of confusion amongst people as to when it's appropriate to drink water.
I would like to clarify your thoughts on water generally and what it does for the body.

First and foremost;
Water is a colorless and odorless liquid found all over Earth. It has gone by many names such as H2O , eau, agua,  ruwa, mmiri, omi...

Tell me, what do you call water in your language?

It is essential for human existence and plays major roles in the human body.
For example:
☞Water transports nutrients and oxygen to all the cells in the body.

☞Water helps fuels the brain, speeding up cognitive processes such as focus and alertness.

☞Water helps in regulating body temperature.

☞Water helps lubricate and cushion the joint tissues and spinal cord.

☞Water helps remove waste products through defecation, urination and precipitation.

These benefits of water can also be harnessed more efficiently when it is taken at the right time. So, when is the best time to drink water?

Starting our day with a glass of water is not accentuated, it literally does wonders to the body.
Taking water before a meal is also important as it helps with effective absorption of nutrients.
One common mistake we all make(moi inclusive) is flooding our stomachs with water while eating and immediately after a meal. Well, this is what it does- it dilutes the body’s natural juices hereby interfering with the smoothness of digestion.
Stopping for small sips of water during a meal helps you check the speed at which you eat, making you enjoy the meal and maintain a balance diet.

I would also encourage everyone to drink water once you're thirsty and not just because you were told to take gallons of water daily, when we drink too much water, overhydration occurs.
This leads to water intoxication, making the amount of sodium and electrolyte in the body too diluted.
Allowing our natural thirst to be a guide to drinking water is the best solution to this.

Fun facts:
☯ A jellyfish and a cucumber are each 95% water.

☯ 70% of the human brain is water.

  1. What happens when you don't take water at all after eating but drink it after like 1 hour?

    1. What actually happens is that the food takes its natural course of digestion, without being disturbed or interfered with. Consuming water right after the meal tends to dilute gastric juice. Though, our stomach is adept at absorbing water, but excess intake of water after a meal dilutes enzymes that are essential for digestion.
